Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Estate Plan?
An estate plan is the documentation that asserts what you would like to happen to you and your belongings in the event of your death or disability. It may consist of a trust, a will, a HeathCare Directive, a Power of Attorney, and a Guardianship plan for your minor children, to name a few.
How will I know what i need?
We are here to help you determine that. Each family is different, and each plan we create is customized to your preference. In our Family Finance Meeting, we will assess what you desire, and what documents you will need to produce that.
How much will all of this cost?
With our flat-rate pricing, you will decide what plan you would like to have. We’ll guide you through the process of determining what plan works best for your family. No hidden fees, no surprise invoices, no additional charges.
what do I have to do to Prepare?
You and your family will be given a spreadsheet to complete that will list all of your assets. This will help us to know what plan to suggest, as well as empower you to feel organized in the process.
Why Do i need an estate plan?
Without a plan, the government of your state has a process for what to do with your belongings in the event of your death. This is called probate, and it is a timely and often expensive process. At our Family Finance Meeting, we’ll review what your state intends, and whether you would like something different that that to happen.
I don’t have a lot of assets - do i still need a plan?
Yes, especially if you have minor children. With our flat-rate pricing, you will choose what plan will work best with your family’s finances and situation.
How long Does all of this take?
We have a thorough, straightforward, tried-and-true process. At our first meeting, we’ll discuss your situation and offer our counsel of which plan might be right for your family. Several weeks after that, we’ll meet again at which time you will sign and review your documents. At our final meeting, we’ll present you with your documents and conduct the Family Value Legacy Interview. From your first contact with us, til the time you have the binder in your hands that represents your profound peace of mind, can vary from 6 weeks to 3 months.
